Working in O&M Management

Statkraft annually refurbishes hydropower assets in Europe and South-America for approximately 2 BNOK.

The ‘O&M Technology & Process’ department provides group governance and services to Statkraft assets to enable optimization of operations and maintenance of our assets and has a key role to lead and develop state-of the art technical solutions, safeguard critical functions, with focus on lifetime asset perspective, group synergies and cost effectiveness for Statkraft as a whole. Group O&M has a group-wide responsibility to define requirements, processes and guidelines on how to conduct O&M in Statkraft and to review the implementation of these. Group O&M delivers standardized services and expertise support to business units to capture value from synergies in operations as well as asset development.


Job Description


As Hydro Mechanical Specialist you will have a key role to influence on important and challenging tasks ranging from supporting our refurbishment project portfolio for mechanical equipment, assist in design of new and refurbished assets, condition analyses and assessments, and close the experience loop from O&M and projects to reach scale through efficient technical governance.

The role will include responsibilities within:

  • Support regional teams in operation and maintenance of hydropower assets.
  • Project support to rehabilitation and greenfield/brownfield projects.
  • Develop principles and methods for extended condition assessments and monitoring and participate in condition assessments of hydro mechanical equipment (turbines and gates) with regional O&M team.
  • Design reviews and calculations for hydro mechanical equipment and waterways.
  • Updating of technical governing requirements based on experience from projects and updated know-how and R&D.
  • Introduce new tools and methods exploiting relevant digitalisation opportunities.
  • Initiate, support and implement R&D activities and projects.

Qualifications


We look for an experienced engineer with essential skills within hydropower mechanical equipment, which includes:

  • Mechanical engineer MSc/BSc with minimum 5 – 7 years of relevant experience from power company, consultant or manufacturing industry.
  • Strong ability to combine ICT-skills and mechanical equipment knowledge.
  • Experience with design of hydropower assets and equipment.
  • Experience with condition assessment of mechanical equipment.
  • Experience from training, teaching and presenting technical topics.
  • Strong communication skills.
  • Excellent communication skills in one of the Scandinavian languages and English, both orally and in writing.

Language skills in German or Spanish/Portuguese is an advantage. As Statkraft owns and/or operates assets in Europe, South-America and Asia, flexibility to travel for shorter periods in these geographies is required. Holding a driver licence is required.

Statkraft manages critical infrastructure and services in several countries. The applicant must be eligible for security clearance and authorisation.
